Down on the Farm

Hiya ya'll!

We have a fabulous new challenge at Creative Card Crew for you this fortnight.  The theme is Down on the Farm and we are being sponsored by the generous Scrapping Center who will be giving one lucky random winner a $15 gift certificate to pick up some must have crafty things.

I came across this adorable image called Egg-stra Special at Saturated Canary and thought she'd be perfect for this challenge.  Papers are from Maja Designs Life In the Country pack.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the blackberries are from Live and Love Crafts.  I used a ticket by Tim Holtz and wrote "you are egg-stra special" on it.  Stuck on a hanger paper clip, also by Tim Holtz, for whatever reason came across my mind at the time LOL, but I thought it looked rather cute.

Hope you'll join us for the challenge this week!  Be sure to check out all the awesome inspiration from my teamies- such a wide variety that will be sure to get your farm creativity going.

Wishing everyone a fantastic week!

Butterflies at Stampin' for the Weekend

Hey everyone!

Hope you all have had a fantastic week.  It's been another busy one here.  Nick and Jordan left for Florida bright and early on Tuesday morning (don't you all just love getting up at 430 in the morning?), and I've been babysitting the 9- and 2- year olds all week.  Tomorrow is the last day... phew.

I'm popping in with my DT card for this fortnight's challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend.  We are being sponsored by one of my most fav digi artists- Krista at Saturated Canary, who so generously supplied us with images to work with.  The theme for this challenge is butterflies.

I made a card for my sister, who is expecting her first baby; she is actually due two days before I am.  We've just recently found out that she is having a girl!  Yay for girls!  I'm so excited for her.

The image is called Butterfly Baby.  The gorgeous papers are from Maja Design.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the butterfly and butterfly paperclip are by Prima, as is the zipper with the baby heart charm.  I was so thrilled to finally be able to use my new butterfly edge die by Joy! Crafts.  Just love it.

Copics used:
Pink:  RV10/21/13
Purple:  V01/12/04
Skin:  E00/000, R20
Hair:  E53/43/47, Y26

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend!

613 Avenue Create Challenge: use a school supply

Hey everyone!

I can't believe how fast this summer has flown by, and we are now down to the last lazy days of summer here.  I've enjoyed a few brief days with all my kids at home, but Jordan has been spending the weekend with her friend and then her and Nick are off to Florida to visit grandma for a week.  Two days later, it's back to school!  Wow, December and the new baby will be here before I know it.

This week at 613 Avenue Create, the optional twist is to use a school supply.  Our fantastic sponsor is Lacy Sunshine who has some of the most adorable digis- be sure to check them out if you haven't already!

I decided to make a back to school card for Jordan using Kenna Back to School.  She's a cutie for sure!

I've used papers from her American Girl paper stack along with some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and The Ribbon Girl.  The apples and white spray is from Live and Love Crafts.  For my school supply twist, I've used a flower paper clip by Maya Road as well as a page from her student planner with the day she goes back to school.

I tried something different with her eyes.  Will have to play around with it a bit I think.  But not too bad for the first attempt :)

Wishing everyone a great week ahead!

Banner/pennant at Creative Card Crew

Hey everyone!

Popping in to share my DT card for Creative Card Crew's Banners/pennant challenge.  This week we are being sponsored by Stamp Fairy, who has some of the most absolutely adorable images!

Mimi, and the free "you're my star" sentiment that I merged into her star can be found on this page.  Background paper is from Prima's Fairy Rhymes.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and The Ribbon Girl.  Banner die is by La-La Land Crafts, and the doily die is from Cheery Lynn.  The star stick pin is by Maya Road.

Wishing you all a fantastic week!

Shape it up at Stampin' for the Weekend

Hi everyone!

Still working on getting my new craft area in order.  Can you believe I haven't even filled up my drawers or cabinets?  Such a great excuse to shop more LOL!

I hope this finds everyone doing well!  I can't believe it's Friday already- time sure flies.  And!  It's been two whole weeks since our last challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend!  The theme this fortnight is Shape It Up.  We want to see your cards in any shape EXCEPT square or rectangle.  Our fabulous sponsor is Rick St. Dennis.  You have two weeks to join in the fun- can't wait to see what everyone creates!

I chose to use Sandi... who I can't seem to find in his shop any longer, elsewise I'd link it up.  She just reminds me of Jordan playing dress up.  I used my Prismacolors to color her up, this is only the second time I've used them.  Going to have to play with them a lot more to get the hang of these, I think.  That reminds me though, I need to order some Gamsol (mental note inserted here).  The pink ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Pink roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts, while the white gardenia in the center I made from my Cheery Lynn Gardenia Strip die.  The Hello and Friend sentiment dies are also from Cheery Lynn, as is the Rose Leaves and the other foliage.

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

Last Cheery Lynn GDT post

Hey everyone!

Popping in with my last week as guest designer at my most fave die company, Cheery Lynn.  Hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying a warm, sunny weekend wherever you are!

I was right last week- my new dies arrived with plenty of time to play with for this week's post; super fast shipping.  I managed to come up with a card that is... well, on the different side I guess.  I'm not too sure how I ended up with it but I rather like it.  I hope you do too!

I used the new Gardenia Strip; however, instead of using the center pieces of the flower I added in a little bling and tucked it into two sets of the new Dainty Bows that I heat embossed with Shabby Green Fran-tage.  The lock was also heat embossed, except with Shabby White Fran-tage.  Notice the two buttons that are tied?  Just open it up :)

While playing around with the Horizon Square Boutique Stacker Frames, it hit me to make a flap with the new Cape Cod Doily underneath.  A little extra spot on the front of the card to use more of our favorite Cheery Lynn dies!  It does still open at the bottom like a regular card as well.  I think I may play around with the closure more on the next one.  If I had known this is what it would lead to I probably would have used ribbon tucked under the papers.

Dies used:

After some computer problems and then moving my craft room from the main floor of our house to the basement, I'm just about up and ready to get going again.  Still have some tweaking to do with my new craft area, hopefully it won't be much longer- I'm just itching to get in there and play in my new area!

Hope you all have a fabulous week!

Book/shadowbox card

Hey everyone!

Just popping in quickly to share another card I made as guest designer for Cheery Lynn.

Have you all been seeing all the gorgeous creations from the DT showcasing all the new dies.  They all did such a wonderful job with their projects, didn't they?  The new dies are all so lovely, I had such a hard time deciding which ones I wanted! I would not be surprised if they are here in time for me to play with by my post next week.  One thing I absolutely love about ordering directly from Cheery Lynn is how super fast my order ships.

This week while looking around for inspiration, I found some really pretty cards that I wanted to give a try.  I have seen them called book cards or shadowbox cards.  I also have a few border/edger dies that I haven't used yet which I thought would work perfectly for this type of project.  Here is my first go (lots of pictures):

This is the front of the card, the ribbon on the side is to tie the two covers closed.

This was taken from a different angle, to show the dimension of the flowers.

Here is a close up of the flowers.  I've used the Daisy Strip, Shasta Daisy Strip and Chrysanthemum Strip.  There is also some different foliage (list at bottom), a bark heart and some flower buds that my darling toddler brought to me to add in lol!

This is the inside of the card- the shadowbox portion.  As you can see, I've been playing around with bits and pieces again :)  The only problem I have with that is I tend to forget which dies I've used pieces from!  Doesn't the Felicity Doily look a bit like a lace sun?  So pretty.  I've also used another Daisy Strip, but this time I folded the petals in half lengthwise before shaping the rest of the way.

And lastly, here is a picture of the inside cover.  I chose this paper out of the bunch (Prima's Fairy Rhymes) because of the lined section which will give me a spot to write my sentiment/message once I decide what to use the card for.

So, after a fiasco of getting Miss Jordan to camp (going to the wrong place on the other side of the state, her getting carsick), she made it - albeit late- and had a great time!  Sadly, she was only home for a day and a half before she boarded a plane this morning to head off to Illinois to visit family for two weeks.  She'll be home for another week after that, and then will be heading off to Florida to visit Grandma and Grandpa for a week.  She's becoming quite the traveler!

That's it for me for a few days.  Sorry my posts and projects have slowed down again- hopefully after the kids wind down from all their summer activities, I'll be able to get more crafting time in again :)

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

Blog candy winner!!

Hiya everyone!

July 15th sure came around quickly, didn't it?!?  I am so very sorry I have not had a chance to visit everyone's blogs, but a big, HUGE thank you to everyone who joined in to help me celebrate!  Wow- 52 followers now!  Thank you so very much to all my new followers.  I plan to hop around to visit everyone tonight after I get the two babies to bed.  But please don't go anywhere!  I will have a new blog candy within the next few weeks to celebrate hitting the 50 follower mark!  Just have to go shopping (which I've actually already started LOL) and get everything in so I can get a picture.  With me being in the US, it usually takes about two weeks for shipping from the UK which is where my favorite stores are :)  And, since it's a "general" blog candy, I feel free to roam into non-baby related items.  So... stay tuned for more!

Sadly, the first person that came up in random.org's number drawing wasn't a follower.  Now, onto the second number:

Yay- Kathi!  Send me your snail mail addy when you have a chance lady (I've emailed you also), and I'll have your box in the mail this week.

Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!

1) be a follower!  But please do not become a follower and then leave.  That would really just make me sad (and everyone knows how hormonal pregnant ladies can be lol).  Please respect this rule.

2) Enter your name in the linky below (make sure you enter a valid email address so I can get in touch with you).

3) Help spread the word- it would really be appreciated if you post a candy piccy in your sidebar with a link back here, or on Facebook, Pinterest, etc... anything to help spread the word.  There will be some extra surprises in the winners box if this is done.  I think I have an extra Maja Designs Vintage Spring Basics 6x6 pad and Tim Holtz's Chit Chat stickers (amongst other things) laying around *wink wink*  hehe

Simple enough?  =]  I am more than willing to send this anywhere in the world, so international friends are more than welcome to join in the celebration!  The more, the merrier, right?  I'll let Mr. Random do his thing around July 15th.

Good luck, and thanks so much for helping me celebrate!

Cheery Lynn Guest Designer week two

Hi everyone!

I'm back with my second project for Cheery Lynn!  I needed something quick, as this came up a bit unexpectedly.  It is for my grandmother, a very special lady to me.  My grandfather passed away three days ago.  I don't have anything for a sympathy card (that is now on my list of things to get!), but I really wanted to let her know that she is in my thoughts, especially since I am unable to make it to the funeral.  She is quite elderly, so I was wanting something a bit elegant/pretty, and a bit on the vintage side as well.  Here is what I came up with:

I love my Cheery Lynn butterflies just as much as I love the flowers.  They are so delicate, and still can be shaped into a dimensional embellishment just as you would a flower.  It is also so much fun to play around with bits and pieces of different dies to create different looks.  The top border above the ribbon is a side I cut off from the Dutch Doily Rectangle Frame.  I've also used half of a Polynesian Sails Oval on the bottom half of the card.  Added a few other embellishments, and viola!  Done in under half an hour.

Dies used:
I'm off to drive Jordan to camp.  Wish us luck that she doesn't get homesick again this year.  She is so excited to go, but already nervous about it.

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

Guest Designer at Cheery Lynn

Hey everyone!

I'm so thrilled to have been invited to be a guest designer for my most fave die company- Cheery Lynn!  You can find their inspiration blog here.

Here is my first card, also posted on the above site:

The flowers were all made out of tissue stock.  I cut one strip of each Miniature, Medium and Large rose strips.  The pieces were then stamped with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  The one on the bottom left was shaped, while the one on the top was shaped and then spritzed with Perfect Pearls Mist (in the color Perfect Pearls lol) for a nice shimmer, then it was scrunched up.  When it dried I fluffed it up a bit.  For the third one on the right, I just spritzed and scrunched, then fluffed when dried.  I've also used the Rose Leaf Strip, Wreath Strip, Mini Fanciful Flourish, Two of Hearts, Bird Cage, Tags 2, and Mini Font.

For the card base, I used the largest of the French Flair Stackers.  The border was made from the largest of the French Flair Doily Stackers, then cut out of the middle is the second largest of the French Flair Stackers.  This was then filled in with the same cut from different paper.

The bird cage was heat embossed with Shabby White Fran-tage.  I've added a few random flat back pearls, as well as a pearl stick pin and Shabby Seam Binding from Live and Love Crafts.

Thanks so very much for stopping by- wishing you all a fantastic weekend!

Photo Inspiration at Stampin for the Weekend

Hi everyone!

We have such a fabulous photo inspiration starting at Stampin' for the Weekend!  I was so excited about it as I really love these colors (not to mention the shabby chic look).  You would think I would have been ahead of the game and not running late this time.  LOL!  yeah, right.  Story of my life, I think.  Anyways- our fabulously fantastic sponsor this fortnight is Saturated Canary.  Love, love, love working with Krista's images.  They're just too cute!

First off, here is the photo inspiration:

Pink and my absolute favorite color- green!

And, here is my DT card:

The image I chose is Sabrina.  I'm not sure who the papers are by, as they came in a kit.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and The Ribbon Girl.  The velvet lace, teeny tiny pom-poms, spiders web mesh and beaded twirls are also from The Ribbon Girl.  The wooden ticket is by Prima, and there's a Tim Holtz chit chat sticker and adage ticket stuck on there as well.  There is also some tulle that I stamped with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink hiding in there.

Thank you so very much for stopping by.  Hope those that celebrate the 4th had a fantastic time with gorgeous fireworks!  Wishing you all a fantastic weekend to boot!

International celebration

Hi everyone!

Just popping in real quick (late, again lol) with my DT card for 613 Avenue Create.  Our theme this week is International celebration- we would love to see cards celebrating your country's flag colors.  The sponsor of the challenge is Rick St. Dennis.

I've used Kaualani, and colored her with my Prismacolor Pencils.  This is the first time I have used them, so much different than my Copics!  Roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts, large rosebuds from The Ribbon Girl and the berry is from Live and Love Crafts.  The flatback flower string is also from The Ribbon Girl.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a fantastic week!

Wags n Whiskers Challenge #107

Hey, hey everyone!

I'm popping in with my last DT card for Wags n Whiskers.  Sadly, I've got a bit too much on my plate right now and have decided to cut back on my design teams.  I have most certainly had a great time with some really awesome and talented teamies as well as creating with some of the most fun images available.  Thank you so much, ladies!  I look forward to seeing your creations out there in bloggerland!

This fortnight, our theme is Cute as a Button.  We would love to see buttons on your creations!  One lucky random winner will receive their choice of a rubber stamp.  The image I chose to use for my card is called Millie's Little Prince.  I've kept it a bit on the simple side, as it is a birthday card for my grandmother.  I forgot to take pictures of the inside before it was sent off, but it was stamped with "Make a wish".  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The starburst stamens are from The Ribbon Girl as are the wooden heart buttons.

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!  And don't forget about my blog candy here!

It's that time :)

Hey, hey to everyone!

I'm so very excited- it's finally time!  My lovely postlady dropped off not just one package I was expecting today, but a bunch of packages which I wasn't sure when would arrive... a big WHOOT WHOOT!  Now I can finally post my announcement, and, following this post will be my post for celebratory blog candy.

Drum roll!!

There's a new baby on the way!  Hubby and I are expecting our sixth, and last, precious bundle around mid-December.  I've been waiting for test results which have thankfully come back normal so far (still have my 20 week anatomy scan at the end of next month).  This has been a huge relief since quite frankly, I'm not much of a spring chicken any longer lol.  But I was also waiting on my MIL to receive her card that I made for the gender announcement:

If all the blue didn't give it away, I am finally having another boy!  Yay!  After 17 years and three gorgeous girls, I am so very excited to be having another bouncing baby boy.

So, about the card!  This card was very heavily inspired (with permission) by the Stampin for the Weekend challenge blog's owner, Rebekah.  I stalk her blog frequently as I just love her cards!  Check out her gorgeous work and leave some love :)

Papers are from the Vintage Summer Basics by Maja Design.  Most of the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Beaded stamens and chrysanthemums by Kort and Godt are from The Ribbon Girl.  Bark Heart is from Live and Love Crafts.  There's also an adage ticket by Tim Holtz, and some scattered pearls here and there.  I used Cheery Lynn's Eastern Star Doily die, cut in half to hopefully resemble a large heart.  There is also the Stitched Tabs die and Heart Banner die, both by La-La Land Crafts.  The beautiful blue lace peeking out under the flowers is from my sweet (and very talented) blogging friend Dianne, who's blog can be found here.  The digi stamp is called Bebe, by Sugar Nellie which was colored with Copics.

I do hope you will all join in my "it's a boy" blog candy celebration which is located here!  I had so much fun picking everything out specifically for this occasion... especially since hubby said it's too early to be clothes shopping.  But shhh... I did a little of that too LOL

Wishing you all a fantastic rest of the week!

Sunshine after the rain

Hello lovely readers!

I've had such a quiet, peaceful weekend crafting all the stress from the week away (in addition to the other mommy duties that is lol).  I hope each of you have found some time for yourselves!

I really enjoyed working on this card.  The image is from Saturated Canary, and is called Sweet Oklahoma.  A short while back, Krista put the image on special and the proceeds were to be sent to our challenge blog owner's daughter, Lindsay, who lost quite a bit during the tornadoes that hit Oklahoma a few weeks ago.  Such a great image (as all her images are), and an even greater cause.  And, since we have no sponsor image for the challenge this fortnight, a few of us teamies decided to use it as a special thank you to Krista for her kind, generous heart. So, Krista, if you happen to be reading this- you just rock, girl!

Onto the challenge! This fortnight over at Creative Card Crew, the challenge theme is No designer papers.  Our fabulous sponsor is Scrapping Center, and one lucky random winner will receive a $15 store voucher.

Gorgeous image, huh?  I think I have left too much white in her hair, I may go back and touch it up in a few spots.  Anyway, since this is for a friend who is going through a rough patch, I wanted to remind her "there's always sunshine after the rain".  Following that theme, I did a lot of distressing to the card and decided on peachy- orange and yellow colors.  I used a piece of corrugated cardboard I've had sitting around forever, which has gold Stickles, Gesso and Shabby White Fran-tage.  The Vertical Mesh Hearts is by Cheery Lynn.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I have added some gold Stickles for some extra shimmer.  The metal butterfly and white starburst stamens are from The Ribbon Girl.

The Adage Ticket by Tim Holtz was put through the ringer lol.  It was crumpled, distressed with my D-Stress Tool, Stickle'd, Gesso'd, and Frantage'd.  And yet... it still looks lovely I think!  Love these tickets!  The triple bow was made from Shabby Seam Binding from Live and Love Crafts.  I'm not sure where I picked up the Vintage Trinket by Maya Road from, but here is a product link.

I think that's about it for me today, except for a reminder about my blog candy here.  Wishing everyone a fabulous week!

Anything goes at Stampin for the Weekend!

Hey all!

I know I've been a bit on the quiet side lately, a lot going on.  I have taken on babysitting for two extra kiddos, giving me a total of two 9 year olds, two 2 year olds, a six month old (all girls) and a 17 year old boy who likes to antagonize them all.  This is of course in between packing them up and running them all over multiple counties to his baseball games- sometimes three games in one day.  Ouch!  Needless to say, I'm beat and have not had my much needed craft time LOL!  Alas, it keeps me young... aside from the gray or two on my head that is; or three or four hundred, but who's counting?   :)

So, enough about me.  For now anyway.  But be sure check back within the next week or two as I have an announcement that will involve some awesome blog candy (oh BOY! *wink wink*) for my followers.  I'll be posting it as soon as all my orders arrive.  For now, the secret remains.

How about everyone's favorite challenge?!?  It's anything goes over at Stampin' for the Weekend!  This fortnight we are being sponsored by Pretty Little Ribbon Shop

For my DT card, I chose to use a Wee Stamps cutie.  Red dotted paper is by My Mind's Eye, cupcake paper is by Basic Grey and the red pearlized cardstock is by the Paper Studio.  Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, stamens from The Ribbon Girl.  Birthday stamp is from Hero Arts.  And there's some silver dew drops from Robyn's Nest.

We would love, love, love to see your creations!  Have a peek at the awesome creations from my teamies while your there- fantastic job as always!

Wishing you a wonderful, craft filled weekend!  I know for sure, I'll be doing as much relaxing crafting as I possibly can!

I've added some roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, a clay heart from Live and Love Crafts and some wooden letters from Ellen Hutson.  Ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and the key and "loved" stamps are by Prima.

Metal Challenge at Creative Card Crew

Happy Tuesday, all!

I'm bouncing in quickly to share a new challenge starting at Creative Card Crew.  The challenge this fortnight is Metal.  We would love to see some type of metal on your creation- be it a stick pin, charm, corner embellishment, etc.  We are being sponsored by Pizazz Aplenty, who is offering a surprise prize and QKR Stampede, who is offering winner's choice of five digi stamps.

For my card, I chose to use Birdhouse and Vines, such a pretty image I think.  Papers are from Prima's Fairy Rhymes.

I hope you'll pop on over and check out the awesome inspiration from my teamies, and join us for this challenge!

Wishing you a fantastic week!
