Last Cheery Lynn GDT post

Hey everyone!

Popping in with my last week as guest designer at my most fave die company, Cheery Lynn.  Hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying a warm, sunny weekend wherever you are!

I was right last week- my new dies arrived with plenty of time to play with for this week's post; super fast shipping.  I managed to come up with a card that is... well, on the different side I guess.  I'm not too sure how I ended up with it but I rather like it.  I hope you do too!

I used the new Gardenia Strip; however, instead of using the center pieces of the flower I added in a little bling and tucked it into two sets of the new Dainty Bows that I heat embossed with Shabby Green Fran-tage.  The lock was also heat embossed, except with Shabby White Fran-tage.  Notice the two buttons that are tied?  Just open it up :)

While playing around with the Horizon Square Boutique Stacker Frames, it hit me to make a flap with the new Cape Cod Doily underneath.  A little extra spot on the front of the card to use more of our favorite Cheery Lynn dies!  It does still open at the bottom like a regular card as well.  I think I may play around with the closure more on the next one.  If I had known this is what it would lead to I probably would have used ribbon tucked under the papers.

After some computer problems and then moving my craft room from the main floor of our house to the basement, I'm just about up and ready to get going again.  Still have some tweaking to do with my new craft area, hopefully it won't be much longer- I'm just itching to get in there and play in my new area!

Hope you all have a fabulous week!

Book/shadowbox card

Hey everyone!

Just popping in quickly to share another card I made as guest designer for Cheery Lynn.

Have you all been seeing all the gorgeous creations from the DT showcasing all the new dies.  They all did such a wonderful job with their projects, didn't they?  The new dies are all so lovely, I had such a hard time deciding which ones I wanted! I would not be surprised if they are here in time for me to play with by my post next week.  One thing I absolutely love about ordering directly from Cheery Lynn is how super fast my order ships.

This week while looking around for inspiration, I found some really pretty cards that I wanted to give a try.  I have seen them called book cards or shadowbox cards.  I also have a few border/edger dies that I haven't used yet which I thought would work perfectly for this type of project.  Here is my first go (lots of pictures):

This is the front of the card, the ribbon on the side is to tie the two covers closed.

This was taken from a different angle, to show the dimension of the flowers.

Here is a close up of the flowers.  I've used the Daisy Strip, Shasta Daisy Strip and Chrysanthemum Strip.  There is also some different foliage (list at bottom), a bark heart and some flower buds that my darling toddler brought to me to add in lol!

This is the inside of the card- the shadowbox portion.  As you can see, I've been playing around with bits and pieces again :)  The only problem I have with that is I tend to forget which dies I've used pieces from!  Doesn't the Felicity Doily look a bit like a lace sun?  So pretty.  I've also used another Daisy Strip, but this time I folded the petals in half lengthwise before shaping the rest of the way.

And lastly, here is a picture of the inside cover.  I chose this paper out of the bunch (Prima's Fairy Rhymes) because of the lined section which will give me a spot to write my sentiment/message once I decide what to use the card for.

So, after a fiasco of getting Miss Jordan to camp (going to the wrong place on the other side of the state, her getting carsick), she made it - albeit late- and had a great time!  Sadly, she was only home for a day and a half before she boarded a plane this morning to head off to Illinois to visit family for two weeks.  She'll be home for another week after that, and then will be heading off to Florida to visit Grandma and Grandpa for a week.  She's becoming quite the traveler!

That's it for me for a few days.  Sorry my posts and projects have slowed down again- hopefully after the kids wind down from all their summer activities, I'll be able to get more crafting time in again :)

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

Blog candy winner!!

Hiya everyone!

July 15th sure came around quickly, didn't it?!?  I am so very sorry I have not had a chance to visit everyone's blogs, but a big, HUGE thank you to everyone who joined in to help me celebrate!  Wow- 52 followers now!  Thank you so very much to all my new followers.  I plan to hop around to visit everyone tonight after I get the two babies to bed.  But please don't go anywhere!  I will have a new blog candy within the next few weeks to celebrate hitting the 50 follower mark!  Just have to go shopping (which I've actually already started LOL) and get everything in so I can get a picture.  With me being in the US, it usually takes about two weeks for shipping from the UK which is where my favorite stores are :)  And, since it's a "general" blog candy, I feel free to roam into non-baby related items.  So... stay tuned for more!

Sadly, the first person that came up in random.org's number drawing wasn't a follower.  Now, onto the second number:

Yay- Kathi!  Send me your snail mail addy when you have a chance lady (I've emailed you also), and I'll have your box in the mail this week.

Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!

It's a boy blog candy!!

So, what do ya'll think?  Is it good?  The rules...

1) be a follower!  But please do not become a follower and then leave.  That would really just make me sad (and everyone knows how hormonal pregnant ladies can be lol).  Please respect this rule.

2) Enter your name in the linky below (make sure you enter a valid email address so I can get in touch with you).

3) Help spread the word- it would really be appreciated if you post a candy piccy in your sidebar with a link back here, or on Facebook, Pinterest, etc... anything to help spread the word.  There will be some extra surprises in the winners box if this is done.  I think I have an extra Maja Designs Vintage Spring Basics 6x6 pad and Tim Holtz's Chit Chat stickers (amongst other things) laying around *wink wink*  hehe

Simple enough?  =]  I am more than willing to send this anywhere in the world, so international friends are more than welcome to join in the celebration!  The more, the merrier, right?  I'll let Mr. Random do his thing around July 15th.

Good luck, and thanks so much for helping me celebrate!

Cheery Lynn Guest Designer week two

Hi everyone!

I'm back with my second project for Cheery Lynn!  I needed something quick, as this came up a bit unexpectedly.  It is for my grandmother, a very special lady to me.  My grandfather passed away three days ago.  I don't have anything for a sympathy card (that is now on my list of things to get!), but I really wanted to let her know that she is in my thoughts, especially since I am unable to make it to the funeral.  She is quite elderly, so I was wanting something a bit elegant/pretty, and a bit on the vintage side as well.  Here is what I came up with:

I love my Cheery Lynn butterflies just as much as I love the flowers.  They are so delicate, and still can be shaped into a dimensional embellishment just as you would a flower.  It is also so much fun to play around with bits and pieces of different dies to create different looks.  The top border above the ribbon is a side I cut off from the Dutch Doily Rectangle Frame.  I've also used half of a Polynesian Sails Oval on the bottom half of the card.  Added a few other embellishments, and viola!  Done in under half an hour.

Dies used:
I'm off to drive Jordan to camp.  Wish us luck that she doesn't get homesick again this year.  She is so excited to go, but already nervous about it.

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

Guest Designer at Cheery Lynn

Hey everyone!

I'm so thrilled to have been invited to be a guest designer for my most fave die company- Cheery Lynn!  You can find their inspiration blog here.

Here is my first card, also posted on the above site:

The flowers were all made out of tissue stock.  I cut one strip of each Miniature, Medium and Large rose strips.  The pieces were then stamped with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  The one on the bottom left was shaped, while the one on the top was shaped and then spritzed with Perfect Pearls Mist (in the color Perfect Pearls lol) for a nice shimmer, then it was scrunched up.  When it dried I fluffed it up a bit.  For the third one on the right, I just spritzed and scrunched, then fluffed when dried.  I've also used the Rose Leaf Strip, Wreath Strip, Mini Fanciful Flourish, Two of Hearts, Bird Cage, Tags 2, and Mini Font.

For the card base, I used the largest of the French Flair Stackers.  The border was made from the largest of the French Flair Doily Stackers, then cut out of the middle is the second largest of the French Flair Stackers.  This was then filled in with the same cut from different paper.

The bird cage was heat embossed with Shabby White Fran-tage.  I've added a few random flat back pearls, as well as a pearl stick pin and Shabby Seam Binding from Live and Love Crafts.

Thanks so very much for stopping by- wishing you all a fantastic weekend!

Photo Inspiration at Stampin for the Weekend

Hi everyone!

We have such a fabulous photo inspiration starting at Stampin' for the Weekend!  I was so excited about it as I really love these colors (not to mention the shabby chic look).  You would think I would have been ahead of the game and not running late this time.  LOL!  yeah, right.  Story of my life, I think.  Anyways- our fabulously fantastic sponsor this fortnight is Saturated Canary.  Love, love, love working with Krista's images.  They're just too cute!

First off, here is the photo inspiration:

Pink and my absolute favorite color- green!

And, here is my DT card:

The image I chose is Sabrina.  I'm not sure who the papers are by, as they came in a kit.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and The Ribbon Girl.  The velvet lace, teeny tiny pom-poms, spiders web mesh and beaded twirls are also from The Ribbon Girl.  The wooden ticket is by Prima, and there's a Tim Holtz chit chat sticker and adage ticket stuck on there as well.  There is also some tulle that I stamped with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink hiding in there.

Thank you so very much for stopping by.  Hope those that celebrate the 4th had a fantastic time with gorgeous fireworks!  Wishing you all a fantastic weekend to boot!
